We have finished our new injection mold with central hot nozzle

We are pleased to inform you about the production finishing of our new injection mold with central hot nozzle. The new injection mold will produce box products for HVAC – industry.
Our injection mold is a single – cavity mold and that is the reason why we use a single hot nozzle, not a hot runner manifold.
For our injection molds with hot runner system, we use only parts for hot runner system (hot nozzles, manifold systems, filter cartridges, heater bands, thermocouples and etc.) with high quality, manufactured by the firm “Thermoplay”. We also buy these type of elements, produced by world famous brands like "Hasco" and "Mastip".
Hot runner technology emerged in the 1940s, significantly changing injection molding. Using heating or insulation keeps the plastic in the runner and gate molten. This prevents solid waste from forming in the system.
The main advantages of the injection molds with hot nozzle over the conventional molds with cold runner system are:

- Melt enters the cavities in a more controlled condition than with a sprue and runner system, as the temperature control in the hot runner is adjustable to finer limits;
- Effective increase in the capacity of the machine as, once the hot runner is filled, the injection capacity can be fully concentrated into the cavities;
- This system is ideal for production of huge parts;
- The injection pressure of the hot runner systems is reduced;
- Hot runner systems result in minimal gate marks, reduce the likelihood of the weld lines;
- Reduce the likelihood of weld lines and lessen visual imperfections.
The disadvantages of the injection mold with hot nozzle are:
- Higher price of the hot nozzle and higher precision in manufacturing;
- The hot runner systems are not appropriate for heat – sensitive thermoplastic materials.
Every injection mold with hot runner system generally consist of these main elements: hot nozzle, manifold (optional: only used in multi – cavity molds), temperature control box and accessories:
- The hot nozzle: There are two types of hot nozzles: open nozzle and needle valve nozzle. Because the hot nozzle form directly determines the hot runner system selection and mold manufacturing, and therefore often corresponding hot runner system into open and hot runner system and needle valve system.
- The manifold: It is used in one mold with multiple cavities or molds with multi – point feeds.
- The temperature control box: It includes the main unit, cables, connectors, and wiring male and female sockets.
- Hot runner accessories: They usually include heaters and thermocouples, runner seals, connectors and junction boxes.
The main difference between the open hot nozzle and needle valve hot nozzle is that by the open hot nozzle there is a space between the TIP and the mold.

The advantages of open hot nozzle are:
- Its easy and safe installation;
- Best thermal separation;
- Its wire parts are easily replaceable;
- Its temperature profile is uniform and homogeneous;
- Easy filling the cavities of the injection mold;
- The open hot nozzle offers tear – off quality with large outlet cross – section.
The advantages of the needle valve hot nozzle are:
- The smallest sprue mark by injection molding;
- Eliminates the weld lines and improve the surface finish;
- Reduces material waste;
- No air trapping;
- Enable injection of complex parts (by manifolds with set of several needle valve hot nozzles).
Hot runner technology transforms injection molding with efficiency, precision, and resource-saving benefits. As the industry advances, miniaturization, standardization, and precise temperature control will further improve its capabilities.
Although global adoption is widespread, challenges like high costs, technical complexity, and standardization gaps exist.
However, continuous innovation is overcoming these obstacles, making hot runner technology a key driver of future mold manufacturing. Its growing use will lead to higher product quality, faster production, and more sustainable manufacturing practices.
